You can't win if you don't know whYou can't win if you don't know what winning means. at winning means.
A man was standing on the bank of a river.
A ferry boat came alone and the man got aboard.
He met the captain and crew and passengers and they sailed across the river.
When they got to the other side, the man got off the ferry.
He turned and the captain and crew and all the people had disappeared.
The ferry disappeared.
The river disappeared.
When he looked down, he was back where he had started -- but this time, he knew where he was.
The man is the soul before it is born.
The ferry is the body the soul uses to cross the river of life.
The captain and crew and people are the teachers and events of life.
When the soul finishes the journey across the river of life and leaves the body, it will be right back where it started.
Then, if the journey was successful, the soul will know where it is.To be a winner -- a real winner -- the soul must discover where it came from and where it's bound before the journey is over.
Here are some tips I have found helpful in crossing the river:
- A happy man is a man who has everything he needs.
- Many very rich and powerful people are miserable because they will never have everything they believe they need.
- Therefore, the way to become happy is not to have more. The way to become happy is to need less.
- Find a job you love so much, you'd do it for free and make that your career.
Then, even if you don't become rich, it won't matter.
- Death is your best advisor.
He lives just over your left shoulder.
Whenever you feel depressed, look over your left shoulder.
If Death isn’t reaching out his hand, things aren’t as bad as they seem.
